Artificial intelligence (AI) is a set of technologies that enable computers to perform various advanced functions such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision making and more. This is made possible by different aspects of intelligent systems including machine learning, natural learning processing, computer vision, robotics, expert systems, reinforcement learning, knowledge representation and reasoning, planning and scheduling, and data mining.
As AI increasingly gets integrated into advanced innovations aimed at unlocking the potential of businesses and individuals, it’s our responsibility to consider its ethical implications.
AI technologies have boundless potential to transform public service delivery and benefit humanity as a whole in ways beyond current expectations. With the transformative impact of AI technologies on public service delivery in Uganda, it is clear that there is great potential to further improve service delivery with AI deployment.
Let us take deliberate caution through the entire AI system development/training , deployment/usage and improvements. The AI technologies should be consistent with user expectations, societal laws and norms, and indeed the organization values. The governments must mitigate data privacy issues and ethical concerns during AI implementation, with continued stakeholder collaboration to harness the full potential of AI in public service delivery.
